Safe Steps provides immediate support to all individuals experiencing family and domestic violence. We offer 24/7 assistance to all Victorians in high-risk situations and crises, ensuring their safety and well-being. Safe Steps handles over 130,000 calls, emails and web chats every year, highlighting the scale of the crisis facing victim-survivors across Victoria. Around 31,000 nights of emergency accommodation are provided, offering safety and shelter to the most vulnerable members of the community, 42% of whom are children and young people on any given night.

For nearly 50 years, Safe Steps has been deeply involved in feminist advocacy and support for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence.
Today, it is Victoria’s only statewide 24/7 family violence crisis response service, providing immediate crisis support, risk assessment, safety planning, emergency accommodation and pathways to longer-term support for women, children and families experiencing family violence.
Safe Steps exists to help people move from crisis to safety, and to ensure no one has to face family violence alone.
