There are around 350,000 Australian who are blind or have low vision - 90,000 of those are in Victoria
For children who are blind or have low vision, specialist staff work with the child and family in their environment to facilitate the transition into mainstream pre-school/kinder, primary school, high school, further education and onto employment.
It also helps people utilise the vision they have with support services such as help with employment, grants to help with tertiary studies, recreation programs, independent living support, access to alternative formats of books through its library, Braille, telephone programs to connect with others for support, computer training as well as career support programs. These services are all designed to support people who are blind or have low vision to live well, confidently and independently.
